HADLEY, Mass. Williams senior forward Alex Smigelski (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) has been named the 2010 NESCAC Player of the Year. Smigelski helped the Ephs to a 13-5-1 conference record and the number three seed in the NESCAC Mens Ice Hockey Championship this season. He is the first skater from Williams to be selected for the top honor in the NESCAC.
HADLEY, Mass. Senior goaltender Isabel Iwachiw (New York, N.Y.) of Trinity has been selected by the conference coaches as the NESCAC Player of the Year. Iwachiw has backstopped the Bantams to their best record in program history, as they have achieved 20 wins for the first time ever this season. She is the first individual from Trinity to earn the conferences top honor.
HADLEY, Mass. Senior guard/forward Blake Schultz (Atherton, Calif.) of Williams has been chosen by the conference coaches as the NESCAC Player of the Year. Schultz helped the Ephs win the 2010 NESCAC Basketball Championship this past weekend, their fourth league crown. He joins the ranks of former Williams stars Rob Bice (1994), Mike Nogelo (1997-98), and Ben Coffin (2004) in winning the conferences top honor.
HADLEY, Mass. Amherst sophomore guard Caroline Stedman (Walpole, Mass.) has been selected by the conference coaches as the 2010 NESCAC Player of the Year. Stedman has helped her Lord Jeff squad assemble an unbeaten 27-0 record en route to their second NESCAC Womens Basketball title in the last three years this past weekend. She is the first player from Amherst to receive the leagues top honor.
HADLEY, Mass. The NESCAC announced today the 2009-10 Mens Swimming and Diving All-Conference Team. The top three finishers in each event at the 2010 NESCAC Mens Swimming and Diving Championship received All-Conference recognition. Junior John Dillon (Wellesley, Mass.) became the first individual from Middlebury to earn Swimmer of the Meet honors following the conference championship. Tufts senior Rob Matera (Trumbull, Conn.) netted Diver of the Meet .
