HADLEY, Mass. – Tufts University will serve as host for the 2010 NESCAC Baseball Championship. The tournament, which features the top two teams from the East and West Divisions, will take place at Huskins Field and Bentley University on Friday and Saturday, May 7-8, and will wrap up on Sunday at Tufts on Sunday, May 9. Joining the Jumbos will be Williams, Bowdoin and Wesleyan.
Tufts will meet Wesleyan on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Huskins Field, while Williams will take on Bowdoin at Bentley at the same time. Winners of Friday's games will play on Saturday at Huskins at 10:30 a.m., while the losers will clash at 10:30 at Bentley. Saturday's 2:30 p.m. contest will feature the winner of the Bentley contest against the loser of the Huskins game. Sunday will wrap up the championship at 10:00 a.m., and a seventh game will take place immediately following if necessary.
The Jumbos' only title came during a rain-shortened championship in 2002. Williams is the only other team in this year's tournament that has won the NESCAC title, as they claimed their first in 2001 before their second in 2007.
