Brito of Trinity Earns CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors

HARTFORD, Conn. – Trinity senior co-captain Herman Brito (Wayland, Mass.) has been named to the 2011 Capital One Acadeic All-America First Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

In addition to being named an Academic All-American, Brito has been honored this season as Capital One Academic All-District First Team, selected to the All-NESCAC First Team Defense in Football, earned Academic All-NESCAC, and a finalist for one of the 2011 National Football Foundation (NFF) National Scholar Athlete Awards.

Brito is a two-time Academic All-District and NESCAC Fall All-Academic selection, and a two-time All-NESCAC First Team selection on the defensive line. He helped Trinity to a 7-1 record in 2011 and finished the year with 37 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks.

Majoring in public policy & law at Trinity and owning a 3.59 GPA, Brito earned a Lambert Scholarship as the top intern in the Massachusetts State legislature in 2010.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
