Foote of Middlebury Earns Golden Helmet from Gridiron Club

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Middlebury quarterback McCallum Foote received the New England Football Writers’ Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Gold Helmet Awards, announced today at the weekly luncheon at Harvard's Dillon Field House.

Foote is the first player this season from the NESCAC to win the weekly honor.

The sophomore from nearby Newton, Mass. tossed five touchdowns in a 49-43 victory at Bates on Saturday. He threw touchdown passes to three different receivers with his longest scoring strike going for 32 yards. Foote finished the game 39-of-53 (.736) for 412 yards with an efficiency rating of 166.24 (one interception).

During the seven-play, 60-yard game-winning drive that began with 1:16 left to play, Foote went 5-for-7 for 45 yards, throwing a 10-yard touchdown pass to Nick Resor.

Foote was also named the NESCAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this fall (Oct. 2) and garnered Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the North Division from the ECAC.

Foote shared the honor with Collier Winters, quarterback from Harvard. Winters threw five touchdown passes as part of a 403-yard performance in a 56-39 win over Princeton. He also ran for a touchdown.
