2007 Field Hockey Player of the Week

November 5, 2007
Julia King, Bowdoin
(Junior, Midfielder - Yarmouth, Maine)
King helped her Polar Bear squad earn its third NESCAC title in a row and fourth overall, recording two assists in Sunday's championship game along with outstanding midfield play throughout the championship weekend. King has been the spark for the Bowdoin offense all season, as she leads the nation in assists with 19 so far this fall.

Mary Clare Snediker, Colby
(Junior, Forward - New Canaan, Conn.)
Snediker scored both goals and added in a penalty stroke as the Mules picked up a 3-2 penalty stroke victory over Bates on Saturday afternoon. The pair of goals pushed Snediker to 26 on her career at Colby. Both of Snediker's goals came during the first half.

Amanda Russo, Tufts
(Sophomore, Forward - Garden City, N.Y.)
Russo netted two goals over two NESCAC victories for Tufts, scoring a goal in each game. On Wednesday at Wesleyan, Russo's goal eight minutes into the game proved to be the game-winner. She closed out the week with the third goal in a 3-1 win at Williams. The Jumbos have won four straight games and six of their last seven.

Ingrid Oelschlager, Bowdoin
(First Year, Forward - Roanoke, Va.)
Oelschlager netted back-to-back hat tricks over two victories for the Polar Bears last week. She scored three goals in a mid-week win over Maine-Farmington before putting on a repeat performance on Saturday with three more goals in a win over Connecticut College. Oelschlager leads her team with 13 goals and 26 points this season.

Lindsey McNamara, Bowdoin
(Junior, Forward - Milton, Mass.)
McNamara had a hand in both Polar Bear goals during a 2-1 victory at Tufts on Saturday. McNamara assisted on Bowdoin's first goal of the game before tallying the game-winner with only 8:10 remaining to keep the Polar Bears undefeated on the season. McNamara leads the team with nine goals this year.

Caitlin Pentifallo, Middlebury
(Junior, Goalkeeper - River Edge, N.J.)
Pentifallo picked up a pair of shutouts last week as the Panthers went 2-0. Pentifallo made a pair of saves in a mid-week win over Keene St. before stopping all nine shots she faced in a 1-0 victory at Amherst on Saturday.

Lyndsey Waddington, Trinity
(Sophomore, Forward - Granby, Conn.)
Waddington collected a goal and an assist during a 3-2 victory over Williams on Saturday. Waddington started the scoring for the Bantams in the second half with a goal before assisting on the decisive goal with only 3:47 remaining in the game. Waddington now has two goals and two assists through seven games this season.

Kathleen Boucher, Amherst
(Senior, Goalkeeper - Washington, D.C.)
Boucher made 20 saves while allowing only two goals during a 1-1 week for the Jeffs. Wednesday evening, Boucher turned aside 13 shots before Amherst suffered a 1-0 overtime loss to Springfield. She rebounded on Saturday at Tufts, making seven saves to help her squad hold on for a 2-1 win. The Jumbos had 10 penalty corners in the second half and out-shot the Jeffs in the second stanza 10-0.

Abby Childs, Bates
(Junior, Forward - Philadelphia, Pa.)
Childs collected three goals and an assist during the Bobcats' 2-0 week. She had one assist in Bates' 2-1 victory over previously-unbeaten Southern Maine on Thursday before scoring three goals in a 5-4 win over Amherst on Saturday. Childs has registered a point in each outing so far this season as the Bobcats are off to a 3-0-1 start.

Ileana Casellas-Katz, Tufts
(Senior, Forward - Denmark, Maine)
Casellas-Katz scored two goals to help the Jumbos record a 3-1 come-from-behind victory at Colby on Saturday. Trailing 1-0 early in the game, Casellas-Katz tallied back-to-back goals to give Tufts the lead for good. Both goals came on penalty corner situations.
