Williams to Host 2003 NESCAC Golf Championship
HARTFORD, Conn. – Williams College, winners of the previous three conference titles, will host the 2003 NESCAC Golf Championship this weekend at the Taconic Golf Course in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
The two-day, 36-hole championship will begin Saturday, September 27 at 12:00 p.m. and conclude on Sunday with an opening tee time of 11:00 a.m. Built in 1896 and rated one of the top collegiate courses in the country, the Taconic Golf Course is a par 71, measuring 6640-yards from the gold tees.
At the 2002 NESCAC Championship, held at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course in Middlebury, Vermont, Williams College used strong Sunday performance to finish atop the field with a two-day total of 614. Tufts finished second scoring 617 followed by Hamilton (620), Middlebury (629) and Amherst (633).
Hamilton junior Brian Williams will defend his individual crown at the 2003 championship. Williams posted a 69 on Sunday at the 2002 event to earn medalist honors by four strokes (145).
