Trinity Finishes First at NESCAC Golf Qualifier
Bantams Will Host Championship Round in April
CLINTON, N.Y. - Trinity sophomore Josh Grossman (Great Neck, N.Y.) led the Bantams to a first-place finish at the two-day NESCAC Golf Championship Qualifier at The Skenandoa Club. Grossman finished with a 36-hole total of 146, including an even-par 72 in Sunday's final round, as Trinity ended up with a team score of 606. The Bantams earned the right to host the championship round in April of 2008.
Middlebury College, Williams College and
Hamilton College will join Trinity in that championship round. The
winner of the four-team event receives the conference's automatic
bid to the NCAA Division III championships.
Middlebury recorded a team score of 613 and was led by junior
Harrison Bane (Marblehead, Mass.), who carded rounds of 77 and 73.
Williams was one shot back at 614 with freshman Jacob Wagner
(Wilmette, Ill.) topping the Ephs with a 36-hole total of 150
(76-74). Rookie Brad Roche (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) paced
Hamilton with rounds of 73 and 75. Roche's total of 148 was
runner-up behind Grossman in the 54-player field.
