Trinity Misses Cut at NCAA Men's Golf Championship

HERSHEY, Pa. –  Senior Josh Grossman (Great Neck, N.Y.) shot a team-low, two-round score of 156 to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a tie for 24th place after the second day of play in the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship this afternoon at the Hershey Country Club.  The Bantams shot a 317 as a squad to tie LaVerne for 20th place on the Hershey Links Course yesterday, and followed with a team score of 314 today at the Hershey Country Club.

Methodist leads the 37-team field with a two-round score of 597, after shooting 290 as a team in today's play, while the top 23 teams advance to the third round tomorrow. Trinity tied Monmouth College and Bridgewater College in 24th place at 631, and all three were the last teams cut from the field for the rest of the tournament.

Bantam sophomore Alex Bermingham (Bedford, N.Y.) led the Bantams today with a 77, after recording a first-round score of 81, to card the team's lowest two-day total of 156, while Grossman was consistent with a team-low round of 77 yesterday and a 79 today. Senior co-captain Reid Longley (Atlanta, Ga.) shot a 159, while junior co-captain Jay Driscoll (Milton, Mass.) had a 160, and senior David Anderson (Wellesley, Mass.) registered a 161.

Trinity was making its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament, after winning the first NESCAC Championship in the program's history in April.
