WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Trinity College holds an impressive 15-stroke lead at the end of day one at the 2010 NESCAC Golf Championship. The Bantams carded a score of 293 (+9) at the Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, Mass. on Saturday afternoon. Williams is in second place with a score of 308, just one stroke ahead of Hamilton and two strokes in front of defending conference champion Middlebury.
The top three individual scores after day one are all Trinity linksmen. Alex Bermingham leads the 20-man field with a 68 (-3), as he carded a 32 on the back nine. In second is Reid Longley with a one-over score of 72, followed by Josh Grossman with a score of 73 (+2) following the first 18 holes of the championship.
Following the Trinity trio out in front are Middlebury's Jim Levins, Hamilton's Hans Schulte, and Jacob Wagner of Williams. The three players are all tied for fourth with a score of 75 (+4).
Second round action begins Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Taconic. The team with the lowest score following this weekend's action will win the 2010 NESCAC Golf Championship and an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
