2001 Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week
May 7, 2001
Matt Dunn, Middlebury
(Junior, Midfielder - Kent, Conn.)
Dunn scored nine goals in two wins to lead Middlebury to the
conference title in the inaugural NESCAC Men's Lacrosse
Championship tournament. He scored four goals in a 15-6 win over
Connecticut College in the semifinals. He scored five goals in an
11-5 title game win over Bowdoin. He tallied four goals in the
first half as the Panthers took a 6-2 halftime lead.

Wendell Simonson, Bowdoin
(Senior, Midfielder - Brookline, Mass.)
Simonson sparked Bowdoin to two victories offensively and
defensively from his midfield position. He helped the defense limit
two conference opponents to four goals each. He also scored three
goals and had three assists in a win over Colby, and two goals and
three assists in a victory over Trinity.

John Landay, Wesleyan
(Senior, Attack - Baltimore, Md.)
Landay broke his own team record for goals in a season with his
48th goal and broke the school's career scoring record. He has
totaled 270 points (161-109), breaking the previous mark of 255. He
scored six goals and added six assists in a 20-15 win over
Williams, ending a 17-year, 19-game losing streak to the Ephs, and
giving Wesleyan its first Little Three men's lacrosse title since
1983. He scored four goals and assisted on two others in a 13-12
win over Trinity. Wesleyan's 12-1 record is its best in school
history after 13 games.

victories. He scored three goals in a 13-8 win over Tufts, and
finished with four goals and three assists in a 13-3 victory over
Bowdoin.

Rob Wilcox, Wesleyan
(Senior, Midfielder - Brooklyn, N.Y.)
Wilcox scored four goals and added six assists in two wins. He
assisted on the go-ahead goals in each game, finishing with two
goals and four assists in an 11-8 win over Connecticut College, and
recording two goals and two assists in a 13-8 victory over
Bowdoin.

Corey Simonson, Amherst
(Senior, Goalkeeper - Brookline, Mass.)
Simonson keyed Amherst to a 2-0 week by stopping 29 of 37 shots,
including 19 saves in an 8-5 win over Bates. For the season,
Simonson has stopped 38 of 52 shots and posted a 4.80 goals against
average.
