2000 Men's Soccer Players of the Week
November 13, 2000
Steve McDermid, Tufts
(Senior, Goalkeeper - Shorewood, Minn.)
McDermid was named the Most Valuable Player of the ECAC tournament
as Tufts won its first title as the seventh seed. He made seven
saves against Bowdoin in the championship game, finishing the three
games with 21 saves, a 91.3 save percentage, and a 0.67 goals
against average.

Brian Hamm, Middlebury
(Junior, Goalkeeper - Terryville, Conn.)
Hamm was spectacular in goal, leading the Panthers to the NESCAC
title. He made five saves against Bowdoin and nine saves as
Middlebury handed Williams its first loss of the season in the
championship game.
Nelson Martelle,
Middlebury
(Junior, Midfielder - Burlington, Vt.)
Martelle played every minute (257) against Bowdoin and Williams.
His stellar play in the midfield to help the Panthers capture the
NESCAC title.

Matt MacGregor, Tufts
(Sophomore, Forward - Little Compton, R.I.)
MacGregor scored with 1:30 left in the game to give Tufts a 1-0 win
at Conn. College. He scored one goal and assisted on the other in a
2-0 victory over Gordon.

Sean Hamill, Connecticut College
(Sophomore, Forward - Easton, Conn.)
Hamill scored the game-tying goal in a 2-1 Connecticut win over
Bates. He also scored the game-winner in a 2-1 victory over Salve
Regina.

Brian Hamm, Middlebury
(Junior, Goalkeeper - Terryville, Conn.)
Hamm played all 283 minutes in a 3-0 week for Middlebury without
yielding a goal. The Panthers recorded consecutive 1-0 road wins
over Colby and Bates after a 1-0 midweek win over Norwich.

Alex Blake, Williams
(Sophomore, Forward - Kingston, Jamaica)
Blake scored four goals and assisted on two others in a 3-0 week
for Williams. He scored one goal and added one assist in a 4-1 win
over Springfield. He scored twice in a 3-2 Eph win over Bates and
tallied one goal and one assist in a 6-0 victory over Colby.
October 2, 2000
Josef Powell, Williams
(Junior, Midfielder - St. Catherine, Jamaica)
Powell scored one goal and assisted on another in each of two
Williams victories. The Ephs defeated Keene State 4-1 and stopped
Trinity 3-0 to remain undefeated.

Kyle Dezotell, Middlebury
(Sophomore, Forward - Newport, Vt.)
Dezotell scored three goals and assisted on another goal in three
games. He scored two goals in a 3-2 win over Connecticut College.
He scored once in a 6-0 victory over Castleton.

Ted Giannacopoulos, Williams
(Junior, Forward - Needham, Mass.)
Giannacopoulos scored three goals and added an assist in two wins,
including two goals and one assist in a 4-1 victory over Bowdoin.

Alex Blake, Williams
(Sophomore, Forward - Kingston, Jamaica)
Blake scored three goals to lead Williams to a 6-0 win over
Connecticut College in the season-opener for both schools. Blake
scored 4:53 into the game to give the Ephs a 1-0 lead and scored
the game's final two goals within a four-minute span in the second
half.
