Trinity to Play for Men's & Women's Squash Crowns on Sunday

HARTFORD, Conn. – Day two at the 2010 NESCAC Men's and Women's Squash Championships has come to a close. On the men's side, top-seeded Trinity won twice on Saturday and will have an opportunity to earn a fifth-consecutive title when it faces Williams on Sunday afternoon. The Bantam women are also making a return trip to the championship and will meet Middlebury, which earned its first-ever appearance in the final with a 6-3 victory over Williams.
The Bantam men picked up back-to-back 8-1 wins over Colby and Middlebury today to advance to Sunday's final. The Panthers got by Amherst 8-1 in the quarterfinals before falling to Trinity. Bates edged Maine rival Bowdoin on the other side of the bracket before succumbing to Williams, 8-1, in the second semifinal. The Ephs posted a 9-0 win against Wesleyan earlier in the day.
In the women's quarterfinals, Trinity, Middlebury, and Williams all swept their way into the semifinals via 9-0 decisions. The Bantams took down Bowdoin, the Panthers moved past Hamilton, and the Ephs bested Little Three rival Wesleyan. Bates claimed a 6-3 victory against Amherst in the remaining quarterfinal.
Trinity returned to the championship with an 8-1 win against Bates, while Middlebury prevented Williams from a fifth consecutive appearance in the final with a 6-3 victory.
Both the men's and women's final will get underway at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity.
