Tropiano Named Semifinalist for NCAA Woman of the Year
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA has selected the top 30 honorees for the 2009 NCAA Woman of the Year award that will be presented in October. Elise Tropiano (Plainview, N.Y.), a 2009 graduate of Amherst College and the NESCAC nominee for this year's award, has been selected as one of the 30 semifinalists. The NCAA Woman of the Year Award honors senior student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership.

Amherst's Tropiano, Bates' Alexander Garner CoSIDA Academic All-America
HADLEY, Mass. - Seniors Elise Tropiano (Plainview, N.Y.) of Amherst and Isabel Alexander (Harvard, Mass.) of Bates were chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as members of the Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Academic All-America College Division Second Team, it was announced on Friday.

Kosgei of Hamilton Named Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year
NEW ORLEANS, La. - Hamilton junior Peter Kosgei (Kapsabet, Kenya) has been selected the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Kosgei received the same award in 2008.

Hamilton Men Finish Tied for Ninth at NCAA Track & Field Championships
MARIETTA, Ohio - The Hamilton men's track & field team finished tied for ninth on Saturday with 20.0 points at the 2009 NCAA Track & Field Championships hosted by Marietta College. Junior Peter Kosgei (Kapsabet, Kenya) earned his second individual title of the weekend by winning the 5,000-meter run.

Hamilton's Kosgei Wins Steeplechase During Day Two of NCAA Track & Field Championships
MARIETTA, Ohio - Hamilton College junior Peter Kosegei (Kapsabet, Kenya) overtook the 3,000-meter Steeplechase field with two laps remaining to win his third-consecutive national title at the 2009 Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Marietta College. Kosgei had a time of 8:56.67 as he set a new Don Drumm Stadium mark by nearly 20 seconds.
