February 25, 2002
Jessie Mayol, Bowdoin
(Senior,Guard - Westbrook, Maine)
Senior captain Jessie Mayol led the Polar Bears to the NESCAC
title. She led the team in scoring with 13 points in a 56-40
semifinal win over Williams, and finished with 11 points and four
assists in a 68-57 title game win over Middlebury.
February 18, 2002
Sarah Walsh, Colby
(Junior, Forward - Catonsville, Md.)
Walsh averaged 23.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.0 steals, and 2.0
blocks in two Colby wins. She scored 21 points with seven rebounds,
four steals, four assists, and three blocks in a 56-53 win over
Trinity. She finished with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and six steals
in a 65-44 victory over Amherst.

Lora Trenkle, Bowdoin
(Sophomore, Guard - Surry, Maine)
Trenkle averaged 21.5 points and 3.5 assists per game in two
victories for the sixth-ranked Polar Bears, who moved into sole
possession of first place in the conference entering the final
weekend of regular season play.
February 4, 2002
Carla Flaherty, Bates
(Junior, Forward - Gorham, Maine)
Flaherty averaged 15.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in a
3-0 week for Bates, which included a sweep of CBB rivals Bowdoin
and Colby. She scored a season-high 21 points, grabbed five
rebounds, and added three assists in a 56-54 win over Bowdoin,
handing the nation's second-ranked team its first loss of the
season. She scored a game-high 19 points, and added four rebounds
and four assists, in a 63-43 victory over Colby.
January 28, 2002
Kate McCloskey, Trinity
(Junior, Center - Uxbridge, Mass.)
McCloskey averaged 21.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks in
three road wins. She shot 60.5 percent from the field (26-for-43)
and 78.6 percent from the line (11-for-14). McCloskey scored 32
points, hitting 12 of 15 field goals and all eight free throw
attempts, and grabbed 11 rebounds in 28 minutes in a 73-65 win at
Bates.
January 21, 2002
Kate Stumpo, Williams
(Junior, Guard - Walpole, Mass.)
Stumpo averaged 15.3 points and 3.0 assists as Williams won three
games to extend its winning streak to seven games. She scored 21
points and handed out three assists in a 73-59 road win over
Trinity. She averaged 12.5 points in home wins over Hamilton and
the Ephs' conference opener against Amherst.

Abi Jackson, Williams
(Junior, Center - Jamaica Plain, Mass.)
Jackson led Williams to decisive wins over Springfield and at
NESCAC rival Amherst. She averaged 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds as
the Ephs increased their winning streak to four games.

Mayol averaged 13.0 points per game in two non-conference road wins
as Bowdoin remained undefeated. Mayol hit five of seven 3-pointers
in the two games for the eighth-ranked Polar Bears.

Shannon Russell, Amherst
(Junior, Guard - Shrewsbury, Mass.)
Junior guard Shannon Russell drained five of seven three-point
attempts and led the Jeffs in scoring for the third straight game
with 23 points as Amherst improved to 6-0 with a 68-52 victory over
visiting Coast Guard.

Kate Dockery, Bates
(Senior, Guard - New York, N.Y.)
Dockery averaged 24.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1.5
assists in a 2-0 week for Bates. She shot 57.1 percent from the
field (20-for-35) and 75 percent from three-point range (6-for-8).
She tied school records with 37 points and five 3-pointers in a
74-70 win over Maine-Farmington, and sealed the win by scoring
Bates' final six points after UMF cut the lead to one. She scored
11 points in limited minutes in a 94-38 win over Thomas.

Kristin Hanley, Middlebury
(Senior, Forward - Seattle, Wash.)
Hanley averaged 24.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in two
games as Middlebury remained undefeated, opening the season 6-0 for
the first time in school history. She scored 30 points, hitting 10
of 17 field goals, and pulled down 10 boards in a 77-47 win over
Green Mountain.

Kristi Royer, Bowdoin
(Junior, Forward - Lewiston, Maine)
Royer scored 20 of her 26 points in the second half as Bowdoin
defeated the University of New England 80-66. She added eight
rebounds for the 16th-ranked Polar Bears.
November 19, 2001
Kate McCloskey, Trinity
(Junior, Center - Uxbridge, Mass.)
McCloskey set the Trinity single-game record with 44 points in a
91-90 win over Juniata in the consolation of the Swarthmore Tip-Off
Tournament. She hit 13 of 18 field goals, and 18 of 21 free throws,
while adding 18 rebounds and three assists. In an opening-round
86-77 overtime loss to Plymouth State, she scored 18 points and
grabbed 14 rebounds. She was named to the all-tournament team.
