2009 Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week

Amy Campbell, Colby
(Junior, Attacker - North Andover, Mass.)
Campbell tallied six goals and one assist to lead the Mules to the 2009 NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship, their second-straight conference crown. On Saturday against Middlebury, Campbell had three goals and an assist as Colby came away with a 17-12 victory. She followed during Sunday’s championship with three more goals to help her squad overcome Williams 12-10. Campbell, who set a championship record in the quarterfinals with seven goals against Wesleyan, finished this year’s playoffs with 13 goals, also a tournament record.

Amanda Roberts, Tufts
(Sophomore, Attacker - Wenham, Mass.)
Roberts collected eight goals, an assist, four draw controls, four caused turnovers and scooped up five ground balls as the Jumbos went 2-0 last week. On Friday afternoon against Bowdoin, Roberts had two goals and an assist as Tufts earned a 13-7 win to claim the top seed in the 2009 NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship. She followed during Sunday’s quarterfinal with a game-high six goals, scoring five during the second half to help the Jumbos overcome a 5-4 halftime deficit in a 14-11 victory, the first for Tufts in tournament history.

Chase Delano, Middlebury
(Sophomore, Attacker - Greenwich, Conn.)
Delano collected 11 points on nine goals and two assists during the Panthers 2-0 week against NESCAC foes Amherst and Trinity. On Wednesday against the Jeffs, Delano had three goals in a 10-8 victory. She followed on Saturday with a game-high six goals along with two assists during Saturday’s 18-9 win against Trinity. She also had six draw controls for the week.

Sara Bloom, Tufts
(Sophomore, Goalkeeper - Summit, N.J.)
Bloom posted a .641 save percentage and a 7.49 goals against average as she recorded three wins in net for the Jumbos last week. On Tuesday in a 19-10 win over Gordon, Bloom made four saves and allowed three goals in limited minutes in the first half as the Jumbos jumped out to a 9-3 lead. At Wheaton on Thursday, Bloom stopped 10 shots and allowed only four goals in the first half of an eventual 19-7 victory. She closed out the week with 11 saves while holding Middlebury to a season-low seven goals in a 12-7 decision.

Margie Fulton, Williams
(First Year, Attacker - Wellesley, Mass.)
Fulton accounted for half of the Ephs’ scoring during a 1-1 week, collecting seven goals while assisting on three others. During Wednesday’s 13-6 win against Connecticut College, Fulton tallied four times and collected three assists. On Saturday at Amherst, Fulton added three goals as Williams came up short in a comeback bid, falling 8-7. She also had two ground balls, two caused turnovers, and one draw control for the week.

Kathleen Kramer, Colby
(Junior, Midfielder - Norwell, Mass.)
Kramer tallied six goals - including the game-winner in double-overtime against Middlebury on Friday - along with an assist during the Mules’ 2-0 week. On Tuesday at Salisbury, Kramer had two goals and an assist during a 15-14 victory. She finished the week with a game-high four goals in a 10-9 double-overtime win over Middlebury on Friday, as two of her four scores came after the end of regulation.

Kate Sheridan, Colby
(Senior, Midfielder - Hingham, Mass.)
Sheridan had three goals and 11 assists as she broke Colby’s career points record during a 2-0 week for the Mules on the road. On Tuesday against Southern Maine, Sheridan netted three goals and six assists in a 21-4 victory. She followed on Saturday with five helpers in a 10-7 win at Trinity. Sheridan now has 157 goals and 78 assists for 235 career points.

Rachel Romanowsky, Trinity
(Sophomore, Midfielder - Hampstead, N.H.)
Romanowsky racked up eight goals and five assists for 13 points during a 2-0 week for the Bantams. On Wednesday against Eastern Conn. St., Romanowsky contributed three goals, two assists and four draw controls in a 16-3 victory. She continued over the weekend with five goals and three assists in a 13-12 win at Bowdoin on Saturday.

Delano had six goals and two assists to lead the Panthers to a 14-6 win at Bates on Saturday afternoon. Delano scored four of Middlebury’s first five goals in the victory. She also contributed three draw controls.
