Remak of Connecticut College Earns National Academic All-America Honors

NEW LONDON, Conn. - Connecticut College senior women’s tennis player Beret Remak (Minneapolis, Minn.) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division At Large Team. Remak was honored as a third team selection, joining Kate Kovenock ’05 as the second Camel to receive this national academic award in the past three years.   

The women’s at large team includes participants from the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, golf, gymnastics, field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, tennis, and water polo. 

Remak, a two-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-America and three-time national qualifier, completed her 2007 season with a 20-4 record, advancing to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championship at Fredericksburg, Virginia. She was honored as the ITA Northeast Region Senior Player of the Year. At Connecticut College, Remak was recognized as the Anita L. DeFrantz ‘74 women’s award winner during commencement weekend. 

In addition to her national recognition, Remak was named to the 2007 All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Team as a first team honoree for the second consecutive year. A two-time NESCAC All-Academic team selection, Remak excelled in her major that focused on the Kinesthetic Sciences and Psychology.
