Singles Bracket | Doubles Bracket

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Five singles players and three doubles teams from NESCAC institutions will take part in the 2010 NCAA Women's Tennis individual championships this weekend at Mary Washington University. Action gets underway on Friday morning for both tournaments and will conclude on Sunday, May 30.

Leading the way this week will be the doubles tandem of junior Julia Browne and senior Meghan McCooey of Tufts. The Jumbos' top doubles pair has earned the number-one seed in this year's tournament. Browne and McCooey were both selected to the All-NESCAC First Team Doubles earlier this month. Browne, the two-time NESCAC Player of the Year, will also compete in the singles tournament and is seeded third.

Representing three-time NCAA Women's Tennis Champion Williams in the singles tournament will be senior Grace Baljon and sophomore Kristin Alotta, both of whom were First Team All-Conference members. The 2010 NESCAC Senior Sportswoman of the Year, Baljon will partner with sophomore Taylor French for a shot at the doubles title. Both players were on the All-NESCAC First Team Doubles this spring.

From 2010 NESCAC Women's Tennis Champion Amherst will be senior Brittany Berckes, as the 2008 NESCAC Player of the Year and All-NESCAC honoree will compete in the singles and doubles championship. Berckes, who won the 2007 and 2008 NCAA doubles title with fellow Lord Jeff Alicia Menezes, will play with sophomore Laura Danzing, as she was also selected to participate in both tournaments. The duo were both recognized as First Team Singles and Doubles in the conference this year.
