Connecticut College's Taylor Named to CoSIDA Academic All-America Team

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Connecticut College senior Kelsey Taylor (East Hampton, Conn.) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Taylor earned third team accolades in the College Division.
This past fall, Taylor was recognized with Connecticut College's highest academic honor as a Winthrop Scholar. In April, she received the American Chemical Society Connecticut Valley Section Award.
In the spring of her junior year, Taylor was honored as a Goldwater Scholar. A Dean's High Honors Student, Taylor has been accepted to Harvard Medical School and will enroll in the PhD program in the biological and biomedical sciences. She graduated with an amazing 3.98 grade point average.
This year, Taylor held two critical leadership roles for the Camel athletic program, serving as a team captain in cross country and track and field.
Taylor garnered All-New England Division III honors outdoors in the 4x800 meter relay from 2008-2010. She earned All-New England Division III accolades indoors in her sophomore and junior seasons for the Camels.
Taylor has also contributed to a pair of school records. She ran the lead leg on the 4x800 meter relay team that posted a time of 9:29.67 in 2009. In April of 2010, Taylor contributed to another school mark in the 1500 meter relay, running the lead off leg at Eastern Connecticut State University.
On the cross country trails, Taylor has been a starter and scorer in the top five in each of the past three seasons.
She posted the fourth fastest time on the Camels' 6k home cross country course at Harkness State Park with a time of 23:11.
In the community, Taylor has contributed to the Habitat for Humanity program for the past three years and has spent her past two Spring Breaks building homes with the program in Alabama and Mississippi.
